A teaser snuck online this week-end to unveil the new show based on the works of the master of horror: Stephen King.

If you're familiar with the writings of the famous author, then you should know about Stephen King's Maine. The author chose his own state as the settings for many of its novels. And that fictional Maine has three famous fictional cities: Jerusalem's Lot, Derry and Castle Rock.

The latter is the ground this new show should explore. Even though comparatively few novels happens there, Castle Rock's influence has always been very strong in Stephen King's universe. Since its first appearance in Dead Zone, the small city's streets were visited by Cujo the rabid killer dog, a writer's murderous alter ego in The Dark Half, to finally meet their ends in Needful Things.

Hollywood Reporter speculated that the show should be an anthology of Stephen King's stories. Each new season would follow a different set of characters and storylines while referencing to those of previous seasons, much like American Horror Story.

The trailer teases the audience by listing a plethora of famous names or titles from the author's best-sellers, each linked by a red bloody line. All those names are not, however, directly associated with Castle Rock. Daniel Torrance, for example is the young protagonist of the Shining which takes place in Colorado or Shawshank State Prison is a fictional Maine penitentiary which gave its name to the famous Shawshank Redemption.

The streaming service Hulu will broadcast the anthology, certainly to counter Netflix and its second season of Stranger Things. Good news, it's J.J Abrams and his company Bad Robot who will produce the show. The Star Wars and Star Trek director is teasing with its enigmatic tweet that linked to the video:

The mysterious project is the second collaboration between Hulu, Abrams and King after 11.22.63, the adaptation of the eponym novel. For now, it's impossible to know a release date or the number of episodes the show will get. One thing is certain: we should be afraid.

The news of the mysterious show is a cherry on top of the 2017 cake for the fans of Stephen King, as the year has already two highly expected adaptations of the master aligned: the Dark Tower starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey will release this summer, followed by the remake of the traumatizing It.
