Netflix to broadcast a press release today in which the streaming service announces the release this year of a TV series adapted from the cult video game Castlevania.

A few years ago, a rumor circulated on the internet about the launch of a live series The Legend of Zelda. Unfortunately, this rumor may have inspired Netflix to try the adventure of adapting a video game in TV series since the channel will release this year the first season of a violent version of the video game Castlevania. This animated series is produced by Adi Chankar to whom we owe the film Dredd with Karl Urban in the role of Judge. One will find in the production of this animated series Warren Ellis, the icon of the Comics to which one owes among others of the Judge Dredd, the Hellblazer, the Batman, Planetary.

Here's what the Netflix press release says:

« Inspired by the classic video game series, “Castlevania” is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself. The animated series is from Frederator Studios, a Wow! Unlimited Media company, written by best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert, and Adi Shankar. »

No release date has yet been officially released, but the project is really enticing. Is 2017 the year of success for Netflix as it prepares to release Iron Fist, Stranger Things Season 2, Sense8 Season 2, Scream Season 3, the ultimate season of Orphan Black and now Castlevania?
