The classic of the horror films The haunting of Hill House is adapted into series on Netflix.
It is the American Mike Flanagan who bears the difficult task of succeeding Robert Wise. Indeed, The haunting of Hill House (1963) is today considered as unavoidable in the "haunted houses genre". The uninspired remake of Jan de Bont released in 1999 (The Haunting) pales into insignificance beside.
The resume of Flanagan can suggest the best. He is far from being a novice in horror films. He realized Oculus (2013), a rather convincing movie. He has also collaborated on numerous occasions with Netflix as can be seen from Hush, Ouija : Origin of the Devil and Gerald's Game (adaptation of a novel by Stephen King).
Moreover, the streaming platform is known for its recent very good series with more or less horror. One thinks of course to the dystopian Black Mirror. We also think of Stranger Things which conceals good moments of fear beside its "fantastic teen movie in tribute to the 80s" orientation.
Ten episodes are on the program of this new TV show. For now, no release date has been announced.
