The wife of Luc Besson, also producer of the film says that Alpha moves like clockwork, each piece in a specific movement.

About the characters that make up the film, Besson speaks first of KC02, an alien who looks a bit like a robot, but is actually a gas-based creature in a containment suit. Creative teams of the film have made a large batch of alien who each possess a culture of its own. Many have a humanoid appearance, but one of the characters looks like a small yellow frog and another a giant skeleton.
