Starz took advantage of the American Gods panel at Comic Con to unveil the first trailer for the adaptation of the novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman.

With a prestigious cast made up of Ricky Whittle (Lincoln in The 100), Ian McShane (Deadwood), Emily Browning (Sucker Punch), Sean Harris (The Borgias) Yetide Badaki (Aquarius), Bruce Langley (Deadly Waters), Crispin Glover (Back to the future) and Jonathan Tucker (Kingdom), the Starz chain relies heavily on American Gods series, adapted from the novel of the same name written by Neil Gaiman who must include Sandman.

The plot of American Gods takes place today, while a war that has lasted for millennia opposes the old and new gods : traditional gods are those of the mythology and regularly lose their believers face a pantheon god reflecting modern love of a society based on money, technology, media, fame and drugs. Its protagonist, Shadow Moon, is an ex-con who becomes bodyguard and traveling with his partner Mr. Wednesday, a crook, but in reality one of the ancient gods, on a cross-country mission to gather forces to combat the new deities

The director of 30 Days of Night David Slade is the director of the pilot episode, but also some additional episodes this season that will air on Starz channel in 2017 to a still undisclosed date yet.
